A tremendous location for whitewater paddling next to Smith Brook Pond is Mattawamkeag River - East Branch; Beaver Pond is a nearby lake that you could explore. Going for a hike on the Pierce Tote Road is always a splendid adventure, and everybody close by loves skiing at Bigrock. If you need a spot to stay Scottish Inns Houlton is a nice choice, and you can go for a hike on the Sweets Trail. This lake is       so wonderful. Near Smith Brook Pond you discover the Kennedy Tote Road which is a brilliant hiking trail. Any time is a great time at Smith Brook Pond if you have a thing about the outdoors. Don't forget to take a good little trip to Carlisle Brook, and Smith Brook Pond is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Wilde Pines Campground is a pleasant local campground. Dry warm beds await you at Shiretown Motor Inn, and get your heart pumping on the good                  whitewater of Mattawamkeag River - West Branch. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Smith Brook Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Bear Mountain Lodge is a good location for that; a lake close by is Trout Pond. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Smith Brook Pond, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are commonly in the 20's while Smith Brook Pond nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the-10's.
