There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Mattawamkeag River - East Branch. High temperatures at Skitacook Lake through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are frequently in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Skitacook Lake. An average amount of rainfall falls       at Skitacook Lake; most of the rain falls during July; February on the other hand is the driest. Yeah, come here to Skitacook Lake for a nice time. Camping is available at Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds; a great close by hotel is Scottish Inns Houlton. Near Skitacook Lake you stumble on the Potters Trail which is a nice hiking trail; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Bigrock. On a good day at Skitacook Lake you can take a hike                  along the Kennedy Tote Road, and Mud Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. If you get bored of Skitacook Lake, you could also have a look at nearby Mud Pond, and Shiretown Motor Inn is a good site to get some rest. The Pierce Tote Road is a fine hiking trail close to Skitacook Lake, and hey, Center Line Brook is a nice local stream. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Mattawamkeag River - West Branch; why not camp at My Brothers Place if you're here at Skitacook Lake.   Scottish Inns Houlton, Houlton 16 miles away Our Motel is in the center of the Houlton area.
