In Maine there are many beautiful lakes, Sherman Lake is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Sherman Lake you must go to Dodge Lower Cove; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Sheepscot River. Marsh Bridge Dam is gorgeous and it's in close proximity to Sherman Lake. There's so much to do here at Sherman Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sherman Lake View Campground is a fine place

Linekin Bay Resort is a magnificent location to spend a night or two, and naturally Deer Meadow Brook is a scenic stream that is worth going to. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Damariscotta

the driest month. Lakes are such calm places, why not check out Verney-Leighton Marsh near Sherman Lake; the top of Haggett Hill is easily distinguished from Sherman Lake.

Ocean wood Campground
 | I have been camping at Oceanwood for the last 3 or 4 years. It is by far the best ocean camping you can find in Maine by far. Spacious sites, peace and quiet, the ocean view is just plain beautiful. If you want a true Maine ocean camping experience, this is the spot....theres no place like it, that I know of. My wife and I first stayed at ocean wood over ten years ago. A friend told us about it. we are avid campers and have camped all over the U.S.A. we try to avoid campgrounds usually opting for back country camping because with the r.v. craze of late so many campgrounds have estentialy become glorified parking lots. this is not the case at ocean wood. the sites give a good sense of privacy and coexist with the natural surroundings almost seemlessly. ocean front sites are spectacular and give an opportiunity to experience maines downeast coast so personaly it becomes a part of you. We try to go each year and realy miss the place between visits. The owner and staff make you feel like a part of the family and we have never had a regret or even a hint of a problem. I wont go into descriptions of the natural beauty of the place because it is truly beyond that. if you know downeast maine, this is it. if you dont, ocean wood is the definition. ... |

Chewonki Big Eddy Campground
 | ...ewonki Foundation
is a nonprofit educational institution established in 1962 and located on a 400-acre peninsula in Wiscasset, Maine. We are dedicated to helping people grow individually and in community with others by providing educational experiences that foster an understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Our leaders challenge participants both physically and intellectually with activities that build self confidence, a sense of community, and a greater awareness of the inter relatedness of the world around us. Since 2002, The Chewonki Foundation has purchased the campground land, built new privies, renovated existing buildings, rewired sites, and revegetated many areas of erosion. We will continue revegetation efforts and to explore energy alternatives for the campground, as well as making it as green a campground as possible. We have recently received teaching equipment for basic fly-fishing programs and will continue to work with volunteers to promote fly-fishing and river conservation. Future projects may include primitive cabins and a shale boat launch. ... |
Camp Seguin-tenting
 | 14 miles away This was the best place on earth. My husband and I went back every year for a week on tranquility on the ocean. Crushed, I mean extremely disappointed to find out it had gone out of business. We drove by as well to make sure it was closed. We couldn't quite believe it....This was great campground, but alas, it has been closed for a few years now. I think we camped there the last year they were open. We were very disappointed to find them out of business and even drove by once to really make sure they were closed.... |
