If you come at the right time of year, Sheepscot River offers some great whitewater, and do take a hike on the Hockomock Nature Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Sheepscot River - West Branch, and Turner Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by. During your tour to Sheepscot Pond you'll meet some people from Augusta-Waterville for sure; if you're here, you could also visit beautiful James Pond. of Sheepscot Pond, and Town Line Campsites is a magnificent local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime at Sheepscot Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. The
cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Sheepscot Pond temperatures plunge to the 0's. If you need a site to stay Holiday Inn WATERVILLE is a great choice, and a quick trip to Turner Branch is without doubt a glorious idea.

Eaton Mountain
 | 26 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
