     Do have a look at Little Greenbush Pond close to Shallow Pond, it's a beautiful lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Dead River - South Branch offers some nice whitewater. Really fine skiing awaits you at Saddleback, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Bigelow Range Trail. This lake is so wonderful. At Shallow Pond you can see Chase Pond Mountain, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cupsuptic River. Through the long summer days at  
   Shallow Pond highs are commonly in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's; night lows during the wintertime for Shallow Pond tend to be in the-10's.
A glorious place to camp here at Shallow Pond is King & Bartlett Lake Camp, and close by you discover the Arnold Pond Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! Shallow Pond
 
               is peerless! Some of the water nearby flows, like Alder Stream; there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Morrell Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Sugarloaf USA.
Shallow Pond is a good place of typical precipitation; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is usually the driest month. Greenbush Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and camping at Black Arrow Lodge is always a nice experience.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
