     Shad Pond is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Sandbank Trail is always a glorious adventure, and if you came to camp Allagash Gateway Campsite is a delightful location to do that. Shad Pond gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; November is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. Summer at Shad Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's.  
   Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 20's while Shad Pond overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's.
Shad Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Chewonki's Big Eddy Campground is a great local campground; nearby you find the Cedar Lake Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. A short tour to Grand Falls is always worthwhile, and there are other spots here than Shad Pond, for example Quakish Lake. Jerry Brook
 
               flows through this region, and there is a nice hiking trail close by called the Gray Ledge Dam Trail.
There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Millinocket Stream, and lots of people from Bangor come here. This place, Shad Pond, it clearly has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Penobscot River - West Branch; Shack Hill can be spotted from Shad Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Katahdin Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two, and playing golf is lots of fun at Hillcrest Golf Club.
