Shad Pond is a good location of normal rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Shack Hill is charming and can be made out from Shad Pond; dry warm beds await you at Katahdin Inn. Hillcrest Golf Club is a golf course in close proximity to Shad Pond. For the period of the summer at Shad Pond highs are regularly in the 70's. Once       the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Shad Pond. This is a popular site for folks from Bangor, and a quick visit to Jerry Brook is unquestionably a good idea. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! Shad Pond is great! A tour to Shad Pond wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Grand Falls, and Penobscot River - West Branch has a great                  whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. The Gray Ledge Dam Trail offers hiking at its best, and not far from Shad Pond you'll hit upon Jerry Pond which is a scenic lake. Whitewater paddling is great on Millinocket Stream, and Shad Pond is right by the Sandbank Trail. Chewonki's Big Eddy Campground is a fine campground nearby; there are other spots here than Shad Pond, for example Ferguson Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
