Camping at South Branch Pond Campground is always a nice experience, and let's not forget Hinckley Brook which is a stream that you may bump into while here. For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Second Lake reach the 70's with night lows in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Second Lake fall       into the-10's. Second Lake gets a typical amount of rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is typically the driest month. A wonderful nearby hotel is Katahdin Inn. Man, is there a heap of amusing stuff to do near Second Lake. Going for a hike on the Freezeout Road is always a fine adventure, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Munsungan Stream. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the                  Eagle Lake Tote Road; there's whitewater on Webster Brook for all you adrenaline kick people. If you came to camp Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a great site to do that, and not far from Second Lake you'll come across Saddle Pond which is a picturesque lake. Don't leave Second Lake without first going for a hike along the Old Pogy Road.
