Go for a hike on the Matagamon Tote Road; whitewater paddling is brilliant on Shin Brook River. Santelle Deadwater truly is in the middle of a scenic outdoors paradise. Good hiking is available along the Snowshoe Lake Road. There's so much to do here at Santelle Deadwater that you need to camp here for a while, Shin Pond Village Campground is a good site for       that. Moose Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and if you came to camp Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a magnificent spot to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Katahdin Inn is a fine site to get some rest. Do have a look at Sawtelle Deadwater close to Santelle Deadwater, it's a gorgeous lake, and Sawtelle Falls is a perfect local attraction. During the warm days of summer here at Santelle Deadwater, high temperatures ordinarily get into the                  70's while night lows are usually in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Santelle Deadwater temperatures drop to the-10's. Going for a hike on the Jerry Pond Tote Road is always a pleasant adventure, and paddling on Seboeis River is so much fun. Why not stop at Santelle Deadwater Dam if you're here, and of course Hay Brook flows through this vicinity.
