A lake nearby is Locke Pond; you can stay the night at Twin Pond Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Really magnificent skiing awaits you at Titcomb; dry warm beds await you at Wilson Lake Inn. If you come at the right time of year, Wilson Stream offers some good whitewater, and if you're dropping by from Lewiston-Auburn, you won't be the only one. | | is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Sandy River, and here at Sand Pond you can catch a sight of Zion Hill. Sand Pond is not the only site close by, Robinson Pond is a close by lake, and some close by water includes Huckleberry Stream. Going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a delightful adventure, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a delightful place to spend a night or two. wonderful. If you're a golfer then a great close by course is Wilson Lake Country Club. There's so much to do here at Sand Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Nor-40 Campground is a perfect site for that. Much rainfall falls
at Sand Pond; most of the rain falls throughout November, and February is when it's the driest. Through the warm months at Sand Pond temperatures are mostly in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's typically in the
50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Sand Pond temperatures descend to the 0's.

Eaton Mountain
 | 29 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
