     The beauty of Salt Ponds attracts many people from all around. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to hit the beach, Little Beach is in the vicinity, unsurprisingly you could also pop by Goose Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. Dry warm beds await you at Pier One Vacation Rentals, and close by you come across the Wonderland Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. There are delightful locations to look at along the Western Mountain South Face  
   Trail; get wet paddling on Blue Hill Falls.
There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Salt Ponds. If you came for an overnight stay Bass Harbor Campground is a tremendous location to camp, and on a tremendous day it's a great idea to spend the day at Middle Beach. Harbor Heights Vacation Rental is a fine spot to get some rest; close by Beach Ledge is a good place to go. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here at Salt Ponds, do take a visit to
 
               Bluff Head; Acadia National Park is a splendid local destination.
Quiet Side Campground is a good campground nearby, and Salt Ponds is not the only place nearby, Otter Ponds is a nearby lake. Going for a hike on the Harbor Trail is always a tremendous adventure. All the water falling down from the sky makes Salt Ponds a wet spot; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is August.
At Salt Ponds during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Salt Ponds temperatures sink to the 10's.

We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness....
