while you're here, and great hiking is available along the Eagle Lake Trail. The yearly rainfall here at Salt Pond is about average; November is the month that gets the most rain while February is frequently the driest month.
This lake is so wonderful. A great beach in the vicinity of Salt Pond is Birchhead Shore, and getting to Bragdon Brook from Salt Pond is painless. Whitewater paddling is great on Branch Lake Stream, and dry warm beds await you at
Eggemoggin Oceanfront Lodge. There are wonderful places to explore along the Blue Hill Trail, and if you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Blue Hill Falls.
