There is a nice hiking trail in the neighborhood of Salmon Lake called the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and whitewater paddling is great on Cobbosseecontee Stream. The skiing at Eaton Mountain is brilliant; there are other places here than Salmon Lake, for example Ellis Pond. Salmon Lake really is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise.
