The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Black Mountain, and do take a hike on the Albany Notch Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend

Crooked River, and you acquire a great vista of Mount Abram from here. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting things the White Mountains has to offer. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Round Pond has to offer, you can camp at Littlefield Beaches Campground, and you can hit the slopes at Mount Abram in the neighborhood. If only every site had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great globe it would be. The Bethel Inn Resort is a good place to get some rest, and why not have a look at Outlet Dam if you're here.
There's so much to do here at Round Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Stony Brook Rec. and Camping is a tremendous place for that. Lakes? Sure, South Pond is around here. This lake is located in the wonderful White Mountains. You need to go to Goss Ledge while you're here at Round Pond, and dry warm beds await you at The Victoria Inn.
And if that's not sufficient, there's heaps more to do near Round Pond. Looking for some flowing water? Try Beaver Brook. Round Pond is a good location of normal precipitation; most of the rain falls through August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. There are some good whitewater spots on Little Androscoggin River, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Albany Mountain Trail.
