    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Rock Pond. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool stuff the area near Rock Pond has to offer. Go for a hike on the Arnold Pond Trail; a good location for whitewater paddling is Kennebago River. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Arnold Trail; Cathedral Pines Camping Area is a nice local campground. Going for a hike on the Morrell Trail is always a fine adventure; the slopes of  
   Saddleback are so inviting noone can resist.
Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Rock Pond. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's; overnight lows in the-10's for Rock Pond. Not far from Rock Pond, you'll hit upon Big Island Pond which is a striking lake, and you can run the rapids of Dead River - North Branch.

               of the year is generally August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is February. Rock Pond is a splendid spot to visit for more than one day, Cupsuptic Campground is a splendid spot to camp nearby. Lakes are good; Big Island Pond is a lake that's in close proximity to Rock Pond.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....

...ramic views and ski along the 4000 ft. ridge amongst rime-frosted conifers before descending to the base via the 3.1 mile America and Hudson Highway trails. Intermediates can ski Tri-Color and Green Weaver, a one mile loop, back to the Kennebago Chair.
