Go to Rainbow Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Get your heart beating on the brilliant whitewater of Penobscot River - West Branch, and fine hiking is available along the Abol Trail. At Rainbow Lake through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Rainbow Lake fall into the-10's. If you want

Lakes are fine; Collins Pond is a lake that's near Rainbow Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Frost Pond Campground is a perfect location to camp. Rainbow Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; most of the rain falls during July while February is regularly the driest month. run the rapids of Nahmakanta Stream. Rainbow Lake Dam has great water scenery and it's in close proximity to Rainbow Lake, and there are delightful spots to explore along the Blue Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lodge at Moosehead
Lake is a great site to get some rest. A quick trip to Stratton Brook near Rainbow Lake is a great idea, and Chimney Pond Campground is a wonderful campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Big Squaw, and not far from Rainbow Lake you'll hit upon Buck Pond which is a pretty lake.
