     Going for a hike on the Western Mountain South Face Trail is always a fine adventure, and dry warm beds await you at The Harbour Cottage Inn. All through the warmest time of the year at Quarry Pond temperatures are mostly in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Quarry Pond night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. On a good day at  
   Quarry Pond you can take a hike along the Wonderland Trail; Gooseberry Island Ledge is another delightful location to stop by nearby. There is a great hiking trail next to Quarry Pond called the South Face Trail; why not camp at Bass Harbor Campground if you're here at Quarry Pond.
Swamps don’t sound that wonderful but Lily Pond close to Quarry Pond is quite wonderful, and after a long day outdoors Harbor Heights Vacation Rental is a good site to spend a night
 
               or two. If you came for an overnight stay Quiet Side Campground is a glorious spot to camp, and on a glorious day it's a good idea to spend the day at Hero Beach. Quarry Pond in fact is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. Big Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from Quarry Pond; if you have the time, Acadia National Park is a national park worth going to.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors fun stuff the area in close proximity to Quarry Pond has to offer. Do schedule some time to go to Back Cove close to Quarry Pond if you have a chance. This lake is so wonderful. Joyce Beach is near Quarry Pond if you're in a beach type of mood; if you get bored of Quarry Pond you could also take a look at close by Stockbridge Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is great on Blue Hill Falls, and a lake nearby is Goose Pond.
Much rain falls at Quarry Pond; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest month of the year is August.

We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness....
