Go to Porter Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Nicatous Stream, and nearby you stumble on the Eagle Lake Trail which is a good hiking trail. For the duration of the months of summer here at Porter Pond, high temperatures commonly reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 20's with temperatures at Porter Pond

| | dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. There's always Nicatous Lake Dam to go to near Porter Pond, and you can stay the night at Maple Grove Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Cold Spring Campground is a good campground nearby, and let's not forget Porter Brook which is a stream that you may bump into during your stay. a delightful adventure. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Porter Pond. Dry warm beds await you at White Birches Country Club. The high level of precipitation makes Porter Pond a reasonably wet place; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest.
