Go for a hike on the Island Pond Trail; dry warm beds await you at Crown Park Inn. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Fish River for all you adrenaline junkies, and Indian Point is not far at all. This location is excellent, just explore all the fun things to do near Portage Lake. Good hiking is available along the Round Trail,       and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Machias River. This lake is so wonderful. A common amount of rainfall falls here at Portage Lake; August is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest. Why not camp at Libby's Sporting Camps while you're here at Portage Lake, and do take a look at Mosquito Brook Pond, it's a delightful lake. Going for a hike on the Webster Brook Tote Road is                  always a great adventure, and Clover Hill Campground is a brilliant local campground. Throughout the summertime at Portage Lake highs are usually in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's.
