A fine nearby hotel is Sanford/Kennebunkport Super 8 Motel, and       you can run the rapids of Little Ossipee River. Pickerel Pond is a great site to visit for more than one day, Blackburn's Camp Ground is a great site to camp nearby; the vista of Cannon Hill is beautiful. A great place for whitewater paddling near Pickerel Pond is Saco River, and you'll come across a gorgeous lake called Haley Ponds. This lake is so wonderful. There's some attention-grabbing stuff to observe at Sokokis Lake Dam next to Pickerel Pond, and getting                  to Leavitt Brook from Pickerel Pond is painless. During the summer months highs here at Pickerel Pond reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the 20's with temperatures at Pickerel Pond dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. Pickerel Pond gets a lot of water; most of the rain falls through November, and the driest of the months is September.
