Why not camp at South Branch Lake Camp while you're here at Penobscot River Reservoir, and after a long day outdoors University Inn Academic Suites is a good location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Pond Farm Pond is in the vicinity, and whitewater       paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Piscataquis River. This is no location for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Going for a hike on the Hardy Pond Trail is always a great adventure, and get your heart beating on the delightful whitewater of Schoodic Stream. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at King's Trailer Park, and tremendous water scenery is available at Stanford Dam in the vicinity of Penobscot                  River Reservoir. The Shore Road Trail is a nice hiking trail near Penobscot River Reservoir, and it's a wonderful idea to visit Emerson Runaround. Lots of folks from Bangor come to Penobscot River Reservoir; not far from Penobscot River Reservoir you'll discover Piscataquis River Reservoir which is a beautiful lake. The annual rain here at Penobscot River Reservoir is about average; the wettest month of the year is typically November, that's the one that rains the most while February is usually the driest month. For the period of the months of summer highs here at Penobscot River Reservoir reach the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's.
