of mother nature reveals herself at Steep Falls, and if you're a golfer then a great close by course is Norway Country Club. Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Mount Abram, and swing by Bird Brook it's a good spot to take a look
at. Dry warm beds await you at The Perennial Inn, and get your pulse rate up on the magnificent whitewater of Crooked River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Pleasant Mountain Inn is a good spot to spend a
night or two. There's so much to do here at Pennesseewassee Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hemlock Camping is a good place for that. Pennesseewassee Lake is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rainfall;
most of the rain falls through November, and the driest month of the year is September. Why not explore Pennesseewassee Lake Dam since you're here. Lakes? Sure, Little Androscoggin River Reservoir is around here.

Crooked River
 | My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage.... |

I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air.... |
