     If you need a location to stay Bar Harbor Inn is a fine choice, and Peaked Mountain Pond is good enough to spend more than a day at, Sunkhaze Campground is a good local campground. High temperatures at Peaked Mountain Pond through the summer are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Peaked Mountain Pond. Peaked Mountain  
   Pond commonly gets a lot of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is June. You can run the rapids of Machias River near Peaked Mountain Pond, naturally you could also explore Black Brook Ponds since you're here; it's not far at all.
So much exciting stuff to do at Peaked Mountain Pond, so little time. A lake nearby is Grassy Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Sunkhaze Campground is always a nice experience,
 
               and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Mud Hole Trail. Old Stream is a wonderful whitewater spot right next door to Peaked Mountain Pond; at Peaked Mountain Pond you can catch a sight of Patten Hill.

Clifford Lake is very isolated . You can get their via route 9 or Route 1 in Princeton. I would recommend a recent typo map and asking plenty of guestions from the locals. There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) .
