A brilliant place for whitewater paddling near Papoose Pond is Piscataquis River - East Branch, and camping is available at Northern Pride Lodge and Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Piscataquis River - West Branch is a great whitewater spot close to Papoose Pond, and don't forget to take a perfect little journey to Little Squaw Brook. Just can't get enough of Papoose Pond. At Papoose       Pond you can see Little Squaw Mountain; why not take a refreshing hike along the Intake Trail. Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a good location to get some rest; hiking along the Number Four Mountain Trail is nice fun. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Papoose Pond. Through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are usually in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Papoose Pond temperatures plunge                  to the-10's. If you came for an overnight stay Casey's Spencer Bay Campground is a nice spot to camp, and Papoose Pond is right by the Big Squaw Mountain Trail. Papoose Pond gets a typical amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
