If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Panther Pond. Frye Island Town Golf Course is a glorious golf course close by, and dry warm beds await you at Howard Johnson Hotel. This lake is so wonderful. The panorama of Brown Hill from Panther Pond is picturesque; get yourself into a kayak and hit Crooked River. All through the summer months at Panther Pond highs are frequently in the 70's.       All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Panther Pond are in the 0's. After a long day outdoors The Elms Bed and Breakfast is a tremendous site to spend a night or two, and you can hit the slopes at Lost Valley in the neighborhood. Panther Pond gets a good deal of water; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily November, that's the one that rains the                  most while September is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you come at the right time of year, Saco River offers some great whitewater, and why not a little side spree to Ai Brook. Panther Pond Dam is charming and it's in close proximity to Panther Pond; taking a little visit to close by Bettys Neck is a nice idea. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Shawnee Peak; if you came for an overnight stay Highland Lake Park Camping and Cottages is a good site to camp. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Panther Pond. If you're visiting Panther Pond from Portland-South Portland, you won't be the only one, and you're in all probability hooked on lakes, Nubble Pond is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful.
