    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Otter Ponds. Hero Beach is a beach in the vicinity of Otter Ponds that you can explore, and if you have the time, Acadia National Park is a national park worth stopping at. If you need a location to stay Harbor Heights Vacation Rental is a delightful choice; the top of Big Mountain is easily distinguished from Otter Ponds. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Otter Ponds called the Western Mountain  
   South Face Trail; a brilliant nearby hotel is The Harbour Cottage Inn.
If you came to camp Bass Harbor Campground is a great location to do that; on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Harbor Trail. Otter Ponds is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Quiet Side Campground is a delightful local campground, and East Point is rather close. At Otter Ponds through the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and the nighttime is quite chillier
 
               of course, typically in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; night lows through the winter for Otter Ponds tend to be in the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Otter Ponds you can take a hike along the Wonderland Trail, and if you want to stop at some out of the ordinary stuff, stop at High Head. A glorious location to take a look at close to Otter Ponds is Sister Ledge. All the water falling down from the sky makes Otter Ponds a wet site; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is August.
So many amusing things near Otter Ponds, absolutely astonishing. There are some good whitewater spots on Blue Hill Falls; if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Joyce Beach.
