     Otter Pond is right by the Arnold Trail, and Horseshoe Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out. Summer at Otter Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 20's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Otter Pond dip into the-10's. Why not camp at Cupsuptic Campground since you're here at Otter Pond, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Lower Hathan Bog is  
   right nearby. A day on the slopes of Saddleback is just what you need.
Otter Pond is a relatively wet place commonly with much rain; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. This place rules, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do in the neighborhood of Otter Pond. Get your pulse rate up on the delightful whitewater of Dead River - North Branch, and hiking along the Morrell Trail
 
               is nice fun. The Arnold Pond Trail offers hiking at its best; do go to Lost Pond, it's a picturesque lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Cathedral Pines Camping Area; a tremendous site for whitewater paddling is Moose River - South Branch.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
