Sure, Carlisle Pond is in close proximity, and there's glorious hiking along the Pierce Tote Road. This lake is so wonderful. This is no spot for people who don’t like to have fun. Shiretown Motor Inn is a great site to get some rest, and a tremendous spot for whitewater paddling is Mattawamkeag River - West Branch. Hiking is a popular thing to do around North Pond; Sweets Trail is a great local trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Bear Mountain       Lodge is a perfect spot to camp. Trout Pond is a glorious lake right next door to North Pond; don't forget to take a glorious little journey to North Brook. This lake is so wonderful. Wilde Pines Campground is a good campground nearby, and don't leave North Pond without first going for a hike along the Kennedy Tote Road. The amount of rainfall that falls at North Pond is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is July; the driest of                  the months is February. From North Pond you get a glorious panorama of Long Brook Ridge; get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of St. Croix Stream. High temperatures at North Pond all through the summer months are in the 70's; the night is quite cooler of course, usually in the 50's.
