There's so much to do here at North Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Bear Mountain Lodge is a magnificent place for that, needless to say you could also take a look at Carlisle Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful.       There is a tremendous hiking trail near North Pond called the Pierce Tote Road; from North Pond you obtain a perfect view of Long Brook Ridge. Going for a hike on the Sweets Trail is always a perfect adventure, and Shiretown Motor Inn is a glorious place to get some rest. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend St. Croix Stream, and North Pond is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Wilde Pines Campground is a glorious                  local campground. For the duration of the warm months at North Pond highs are regularly in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at North Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Just can't get enough of North Pond. On a great day at North Pond you can take a hike along the Kennedy Tote Road, and get your heart beating on the glorious whitewater of Mattawamkeag River - West Branch.
