     Baker Stream is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at, and going for a hike on the Sally Mountain Trail is always a good adventure. Head up to Saddleback and strap some skis to your feet, and in case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Parlin Pond Stream. Mud Pond is not the only location close by, Lost Pond is a close by lake, and Mud Pond is perfect enough to spend more than  
   a day at, Black Arrow Lodge is a perfect local campground. Summer at Mud Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Mud Pond tend to be in the-10's.
This lake is so wonderful. The Bigelow Range Trail is a great hiking trail next to Mud Pond, and Cupsuptic River has a perfect whitewater paddling spot nearby.
 
               This lake is so wonderful. Looking for something close to Mud Pond? Felker Pond is in the neighborhood. From a precipitation point of view Mud Pond is a pretty typical place; the wettest month of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff next to Mud Pond. The top of King and Bartlett Mountain is easily distinguished from Mud Pond; nearby you stumble on the Fire Warden Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Camping at King & Bartlett Lake Camp is always a pleasant experience, and Sugarloaf USA is a very popular ski area around here.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....

NOVICES & INTERMEDIATES CAN SKI FROM THE SUMMIT -- FOR THE FIRST TIME
The new quad chairlift also allows novice and intermediate skiers to ski from the summit for the first time. Novices can now enjoy the panoramic views and ski along the 4000 ft. ridge amongst rime-frosted conifers before descending to the base via the 3.1 mile America and Hudson Highway trails. Intermediates can ski Tri-Color and Green Weaver, a one mile loop, back to the Kennebago Chair.

Black Beauty, Frost Bite and Artula (black diamond) were added off the new Kennebago Quad Chair. Hornberg (green circle) is a new easier trail in the South Branch beginner/family area which also provides access to ski-in ski-out trails for the South Branch and Mountain Brook condominiums.
