    Do stop by Mud Pond while you're in this part of Maine. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Sugarloaf USA and strap some skis to your feet, and you can stay the night at Northern Outdoors. If you want a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Mud Pond. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Kennebec River; after a long day outdoors Bingham Motor Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. An average amount  
   of rainfall falls at Mud Pond; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
Near Mud Pond you stumble on the Intake Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. Lakes? Sure, Moxie Pond is close by. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mud Pond has to offer, you can camp at Enchanted Outfitters & Lodge, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Arnolds Trail. There are other places
 
               here than Mud Pond, for example Round Pond; don't forget to take a pleasant little tour to Black Brook.
This lake is so wonderful. Through the warm months at Mud Pond temperatures are mostly in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Mud Pond temperatures drop to the-10's. There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Moxie Stream, and the Big Squaw Mountain Trail is a great hiking trail close by.
