Beautiful Mud Pond has much to offer visitors. Get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Schoodic Stream, and after a long day outdoors Katahdin Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two. Through the summer at Mud Pond highs are mostly in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. | | for whitewater paddling is Piscataquis River. Alder Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to. Mud Pond is a good place of typical rainfall; the wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's the one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. There's magnificent hiking along the Scutaze Trail, and you'll perhaps meet some folks from Bangor here. South Branch Lake | |

Camp is a magnificent local campground, and the Hardy Pond Trail offers hiking at its best. If you love the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Mud Pond. Jo-mary Lake Campground is a good campground nearby, and a great swamp in close proximity to Mud Pond is Hawthorne Meadow.
