You can run the rapids of Kingsbury Stream in close proximity to Mud Pond, and Mud Pond is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Balsam woods Campground is a pleasant local campground. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Mud Pond. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 20's; nighttime lows at Mud Pond all through the wintertime commonly plunge into the-10's. Looking for some flowing water?

Moosehead Lake is a good location to get some rest, needless to say you could also have a look at Piper Pond if you're here; it's not far at all. Mud Pond is a wet place that gets a large amount of rainfall; all through the month
of July you get the most rain around here while February is ordinarily the driest month. Crow Hill is wonderful and can be seen from Mud Pond; Piscataquis River is a pleasant whitewater spot nearby.

Eaton Mountain
 | 23 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
