Good hiking is available along the Snowshoe Lake Road, and Shin Pond Village Campground is a good campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Millinocket Stream; if you came for an overnight stay Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a brilliant place to camp. There are some fine whitewater spots on Shin Brook River, and you can go for a hike on the Jerry Pond Tote Road.       Mud Pond is a good spot of normal rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Through the long summer days highs here at Mud Pond reach the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Mud Pond plunge into the-10's. Little Mud Pond is a nearby lake that you could have a look at. Be careful coming to                  Mud Pond, you might not ever want to go back home again. A lake nearby is Soper Logan; going for a hike on the Matagamon Tote Road is always a fine adventure.
