Lakes are splendid; Little Mud Pond is a lake that's near Mud Pond; get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Shin Brook River. This lake is so wonderful. There is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Mud Pond called the Jerry Pond Tote Road, and camping at Shin Pond Village Campground is always a great experience.       But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Mud Pond. Not far from Mud Pond, you'll hit upon Soper Logan which is a stunning lake; Mud Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a fine local campground. Near Mud Pond you stumble on the Snowshoe Lake Road which is a perfect hiking trail, and there's whitewater on Millinocket Stream for all you adrenaline people.
