Throughout the warm months highs here at Mud Pond reach the 80's, and the nighttime is rather cooler of course, regularly in the 60's. Loon Pond is a glorious lake near Mud Pond; after a long day outdoors Maple Hill Farm B & B Inn is a magnificent place       to spend a night or two. Mud Pond is not far at all from Augusta-Waterville, and you acquire a pleasant view of Springer Hill from here. Mud Pond gets lots of water; the wettest month of the year is mostly November, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is September. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Cathance River, and a great close by hotel is Winthrop Motel.                  Mud Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, The Birches Campground is a great local campground, and getting to Ashford Brook from Mud Pond is trouble-free. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant location to camp here at Mud Pond is Augusta West Lakeside Resort, and if you come at the right time of year, Cobbosseecontee Stream offers some tremendous whitewater. There are other sites here than Mud Pond, for example Mill Pond; hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a wonderful local trail. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up.
