While you're here at Mud Pond you can take a hike along the Bald Mountain Trail, and a perfect spot to camp here at Mud Pond is Shady Oaks Campground and Cabins. This lake is so wonderful. | | Pond is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Whispering Pines Campground is a perfect local campground, and there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Old Gold Mine Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Best Western Fort Knox Inn is a tremendous choice, and a pretty lake like Thurston Pond is a wonderful location to have a look at. from Mud Pond you obtain a nice panorama of Orcutt Mountain. And if that's not sufficient, there's loads more to do in the neighborhood of Mud Pond. Swamps like McGann Bog in the vicinity of Mud Pond make for glorious places to
explore, and if you come at the right time of year, Penobscot River offers some nice whitewater. Mud Pond gets a typical amount of precipitation; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain while February is
commonly the driest month. Summertime at Mud Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 20's; after the sun is down during the
wintertime temperatures at Mud Pond fall into the 0's. If only every spot had this much outdoors amusing stuff, what a great globe it would be. If you're a golfer then a good close by course is Rocky Knoll Country Club, and you'll hit upon a pretty lake called Brewer Lake.

 | 10 miles away Pushaw Lake Campground is located on Pushaw Lake in Orono, Maine. It is an 8 mile long lake with wonderful swimming and fishing. We have two laundry , two bathroom and shower facilities, as well as a Store, Gift Shop, Moose Cafe' with free WIFI in the Cafe for all our guest to enjoy, recreation hall and Arcade.
We rent Canoes and Kayaks for those of you that would like to get out on the lake and enjoy some of the beautiful nature that surrounds us.
