Do stop by Mud Pond while you're in this part of Maine. If you came to camp King & Bartlett Lake Camp is a great place to do that; don't leave Mud Pond without first going for a hike along the Bigelow Range Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cupsuptic River. While you're here at Mud Pond, you could also stop at beautiful Jim Pond, and dry warm beds await you at Wilson Lake Inn.

| | Mud Pond gets a normal amount of yearly rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month. And if that's not sufficient, there's a lot more to do in the neighborhood of Mud Pond. There's whitewater on Dead River - South Branch for all you thrill seekers, and there's splendid hiking along the Morrell Trail. down it descends down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows through the winter for Mud Pond tend to be in the-10's. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at
Saddleback since you're here, and great hiking is available along the Fire Warden Trail. Wethern Pond is a nearby lake that you could go to. There's so much to do here at Mud Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Black Arrow
Lodge is a great place for that. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Bradbury Brook is a stream you can explore while here, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Sugarloaf USA.

 | 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |

The black diamond terrain is in a bowl that is separate from the rest of the ski area. Three advanced trails were added in the bowl this summer.
