     There is a great hiking trail near Mud Pond called the Bigelow Range Trail, and camping is available at Black Arrow Lodge. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things at Mud Pond. Going for a hike on the Fire Warden Trail is always a magnificent adventure, and if you came for an overnight stay King & Bartlett Lake Camp is a fine spot to camp. This lake is so wonderful. You're perhaps into lakes, Wethern Pond is one of those close  
   by. A day on the slopes of Saddleback is just what you need, and Dead River - South Branch is a nice whitewater spot nearby.
At Mud Pond during the summertime highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Mud Pond dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. The skiing at Sugarloaf USA is pleasant, and Herbert Grand Hotel is a wonderful place to get some rest. This
 
               lake is so wonderful. Looking for something near Mud Pond? Jim Pond is around here, and you can run the rapids of Cupsuptic River.
Mud Pond is a good spot of common precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. Go for a hike on the Morrell Trail, and why not a little side journey to Bradbury Brook.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
