Summertime at Mud Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Mud Pond. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Mattawamkeag River - West Branch, and hiking along       the Pierce Tote Road is nice fun. Just can't get enough of Mud Pond. Collis Brook is a stream that you may encounter while you're here, and pretty scenery and great skiing is what you get at Bigrock. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Scottish Inns Houlton is a splendid choice. Stay the night at Bear Mountain Lodge; probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Hidden Pond is just a very short distance away. You're probably hooked                  on lakes, Half Moon Pond is one of those close by, and going for a hike along the Sweets Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Mud Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Wilde Pines Campground is a delightful place for that; there are some great whitewater spots on Mattawamkeag River - East Branch.
