Mud Pond gets a common amount of rainfall; through July this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is February. A delightful location for whitewater paddling near Mud Pond is Mattawamkeag River - East Branch. There's so much to do here at Mud Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Wilde Pines Campground is a wonderful place for that. A lake nearby is Mud Lake; there are good places to explore                  along the Kennedy Tote Road. Don't leave Mud Pond without first going for a hike along the Potters Trail. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mud Pond has to offer, you can camp at My Brothers Place. Meduxnekeag River - South Branch is a splendid whitewater spot close to Mud Pond, and at Mud Pond you can catch a sight of Byron Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Bigrock. This lake is so wonderful.
