Near Mud Pond you find the Island Pond Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and a great sight of scenic Carr Pond Mountain is available. Mud Pond is a good place of common rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. What a site this is for outdoors people. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you       can always go to close by Bishop Pond, and Overlook Motel is a great spot to get some rest. Camping at Mud Pond is great fun, Clover Hill Campground is a great local campground, and if you need a place to stay Eagle Lake Inn is a pleasant choice. Birch Haven Campground is a delightful campground here, and get drenched paddling on Fish River. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Round Trail is always a great adventure, and get yourself into                  a kayak and hit Machias River. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Mud Pond reach the 70's, and the nighttime is a tad colder of course, mostly in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are usually in the 10's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Mud Pond.
