Do stop by Mud Pond while you're in this part of Maine. Why not camp at Clover Hill Campground since you're here at Mud Pond. Mud Pond gets a normal amount of rain; during August this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. | | some delightful whitewater; the Fox Brook Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Machias River, and close by you hit upon the Island Pond Trail which is a great hiking trail. Summertime highs at Mud Pond ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 10's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Mud Pond sink into the-10's.
