    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Morancy Pond. After a long day outdoors The Harborside Hotel and Marina is a great spot to spend a night or two; on a great day you can take a hike along the Schoodic Head Trail. Bean Meadow is a swamp close to Morancy Pond, and a delightful beach close by is Black Beach. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is wonderful here at Morancy Pond, you can go for a hike along the Bar Island Trail;  
   Acadia National Park is a brilliant local destination.
If only every place had this much outdoors amusing things, what a great globe it would be. Paddling on Narraguagus River is so much fun. Stay the night at Flanders Bay; if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Schoodic Beach. Man, is there a lot of enjoyable stuff to do in the vicinity of Morancy Pond. Whitewater paddling is good on Narraguagus River - West Branch, and not far from Morancy
 
               Pond you'll stumble on Morancy Meadow Pond which is a pretty lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Flanders Pond is in close proximity. There's so much to do here at Morancy Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Mountainview Campground is a wonderful site for that. Merchants Brook is near Morancy Pond and is always a joy to stop at, and there is a splendid hiking trail nearby called the The Anvil Trail. Throughout the summertime months, highs commonly are in the 70's at Morancy Pond, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are frequently in the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Morancy Pond temperatures drop to the 10's.
Morancy Pond is a wet location that gets a large amount of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is November, and August is when it's the driest. Bar Harbor Inn is a pleasant location to get some rest, and while you're here you ought to pop by Bunker Cove.

We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness....
