    Moose Pond is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Not far from Moose Pond, you'll discover Cuxabexis Lake which is a scenic lake, and Big Squaw has great slopes and a friendly staff. If you adore the outdoors, you'll adore Moose Pond. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Moose Pond; Old Telos Tote Road is a pleasant local trail, and after a long day outdoors Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a good site to spend a night or two. This lake is  
   so wonderful.
Why not check out close by Cuxabexis Stream if you're here at Moose Pond, and whitewater paddling is glorious on Ellis Brook. Moose Pond gets a common amount of annual rain; the month with most of the rain is July, and February is when it's the driest. The Telephone Trail offers hiking at its best, and delightful hiking is available along the Carry Trail.
Get drenched paddling on Smith Brook; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you
 
               can always stop at nearby Duck Pond. During the summer months at Moose Pond highs are commonly in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 20's with temperatures at Moose Pond dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Frost Pond Campground; nearby you stumble on Cuxabexis Cove.

Chesuncook Lake
I worked two summers for Great Northern Paper Company on Chesuncook Lake.  1967 and 68 were two of the last years the drive existed as it was replaced in the early 70's by truckers.  Also worked at Ripogenus Dam sluicing pulp into the Millinocket River and followed the wood down toward Millinocket.  Slept, ate in the Boom House.  Winston Morse was our boss the first year and Bert McBernie the second.  Nelson Lavasseur was the overall boss of the drive.  Chesuncook then could at times be covered by pulp wood often being towed down lake by the Edward Hilton a 70' tow boat that moved about 1/2 mile an hour under load....

The loons will dry off after diving for a meal....
