If you come at the right time of year, Sandy River offers some delightful whitewater, and camping at Camp Laurel is always a brilliant experience. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Maple Hill Farm B & B Inn is a brilliant choice, and Hopkins Pond is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. You're sure to come across some nice folks from Mount Vernon here; do stop at Doloff Pond, it's a delightful lake. If you came to camp Five Seasons

| | Campground is a glorious place to do that, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Cobbosseecontee Stream. A magnificent panorama of beautiful Bowen Hill is available from Moose Pond, and dropping by Peacock Beach State Park is a great thing to do. a lot more to do close to Moose Pond. While you're here at Moose Pond you can take a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Titcomb. This lake is so
wonderful. Take a side journey to Intervale Brook, and dry warm beds await you at Winthrop Motel. At Moose Pond through the summer highs are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's, and night lows at Moose Pond during the winter commonly fall into the 0's.

Eaton Mountain
 | 28 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
