Flying Pond Dam is an interesting thing to check out; you can spot Bowen Hill from Minnehonk Lake. Summertime highs at Minnehonk Lake regularly tend to be in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Minnehonk Lake. Flying Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at; don't leave Minnehonk Lake without first going for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Minnehonk Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp Laurel. If you need a location to stay Winthrop Motel is a glorious choice, and the nice people of Augusta-Waterville like to hang out nearby. If you want a good time in the great
outdoors, just come on down to Minnehonk Lake. If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Wilson Stream, and Minnehonk Lake is a wonderful place to visit for more than one day, Five Seasons Campground
is a wonderful place to camp nearby. The high level of precipitation makes Minnehonk Lake a reasonably wet site; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.

Eaton Mountain
 | 23 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
