Mill Pond is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Camp Laurel is a glorious place to camp nearby, and it's a good idea to stop at Beaver Brook. During the months of summer here at Mill Pond, high temperatures usually get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; nighttime lows at Mill Pond through the wintertime typically sink into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night

| | at Augusta West Lakeside Resort; if you're popping by from Augusta-Waterville, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Maple Hill Farm B & B Inn is a great choice, and paddling on Cobbosseecontee Stream is so much fun. Cobbosseecontee Stream has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby; Mill Pond is not the only site nearby, Carlton Pond is a nearby lake. So many enjoyable things to do at Mill Pond, so little time. Mill Pond Dam is a site that is near Mill Pond, and do take a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Eaton Mountain
 | 24 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
