Middle Oxhead Pond is a pretty wet place typically with a large amount of precipitation; most of the rain falls through November while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Middle Oxhead Pond has to offer, you can camp at Cold Spring Campground, and there is a magnificent hiking       trail nearby called the Eagle Lake Trail. Some of the water close by flows, like Little Guagus Stream, and if you need a place to stay White Birches Country Club is a wonderful choice. During the months of summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Middle Oxhead Pond with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Middle Oxhead Pond descend into the 0's. A great spot                  for whitewater paddling near Middle Oxhead Pond is Passadumkeag River, and nearby you come across the Lead Mountain Trail which is a good hiking trail. There's so much to do here at Middle Oxhead Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Maple Grove Campground is a nice location for that, and you can run the rapids of Nicatous Stream.
