There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Eaton Mountain, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Augusta-Waterville. Throughout the summertime months highs here at Messalonskee Lake reach the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Messalonskee Lake temperatures descend to the 0's. From

after a long day outdoors Hampton Inn Waterville/Augusta ME is a great place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. You're probably into lakes, Messalonskee Stream Reservoir is one of those nearby. At Messalonskee Lake you can see Hussey Hill, and do check out Snow Pond Dam since you're here.

Eaton Mountain
 | 10 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
