A good deal of rain falls at Meacham Pond; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is September. You believe that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Not far from Meacham Pond, you'll locate Mill Pond which is a picturesque lake; camping at The Birches Campground is always a nice experience.

| | This lake is so wonderful. A round of golf at nearby Meadows Golf Course is a great way to kill some time, and don't forget to take a great little tour to Dead River. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cobbosseecontee Stream, and Black Lantern B and B is a delightful place to get some rest. Lakes? Sure, Mud Pond is in the vicinity. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Meacham Pond. Summer overnight lows fall | |
| |
down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 20's, and night lows at Meacham Pond through the winter usually drop into the 10's. At Meacham Pond you always meet someone from Augusta-Waterville, and if you come at the right time of year, Cathance River offers some great whitewater.

Cathance River
 | Fun short spot, We made it a overnight trip and had a good old time. There needs to be a bunch of water in this stream to even make it doable. on 4/20 we were scooting-ass over many shallow spots in our yaks. Fun drops with laziness inbetween make for a good time especially for the novice.... |
Augusta/Gardiner KOA

Allen Pond Campground

Chewonki Big Eddy Campground
 | 17 miles away ...ated on a 400-acre peninsula in Wiscasset, Maine. We are dedicated to helping people grow individually and in community with others by providing educational experiences that foster an understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Our leaders challenge participants both physically and intellectually with activities that build self confidence, a sense of community, and a greater awareness of the inter relatedness of the world around us. Since 2002, The Chewonki Foundation has purchased the campground land, built new privies, renovated existing buildings, rewired sites, and revegetated many areas of erosion. We will continue revegetation efforts and to explore energy alternatives for the campground, as well as making it as green a campground as possible. We have recently received teaching equipment for basic fly-fishing programs and will continue to work with volunteers to promote fly-fishing and river conservation. Future projects may include primitive cabins and a shale boat launch. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

Camp Seguin-tenting
 | 17 miles away This was the best place on earth. My husband and I went back every year for a week on tranquility on the ocean. Crushed, I mean extremely disappointed to find out it had gone out of business. We drove by as well to make sure it was closed. We couldn't quite believe it....This was great campground, but alas, it has been closed for a few years now. I think we camped there the last year they were open. We were very disappointed to find them out of business and even drove by once to really make sure they were closed.... |
Hermit Island Campground
 | 19 miles away 2 PHOTOS Sand Dune Beach on Hermit Island.... I am one of the owners of this campground.?A camper has made his own website, but it is NOT our official website and may contain old or inaccurate information.?Please check our website at www.hermitisland.com for accurate, up-to-date information.... Hermit Island is easily the best vacation your family will ever make. There are seven white sand beaches, which are not crowded at all. You could easily find that you have the entire beach to yourself. Among the other options, there are hiking trails, biking, fishing, boating, a full marina, swimming, and much more. The best part is that at night, when camping near the coast of the island, you fall asleep to the soft lull of the waves and the gentle summer breeze. It is truly one of Maine's hidden gems, as you will find no other place like it. There is something magical about it, that will draw you back year after year. My love for this place will never die out. For more information, check out the official travel guide for Hermit Island at www.hermitisland.weebly.com... |
