    Beautiful McWain Pond has much to offer visitors. If you come at the right time of year, Crooked River offers some great whitewater; the peak of Baker Hill can be made out from McWain Pond. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at McWain Pond you can take a hike along the Albany Notch Trail, and after a long day outdoors The Bethel Inn Resort is a splendid place to spend a night or two. McIntire Brook is a gorgeous stream that is worth checking out,  
   and you can hit the slopes at Shawnee Peak around here.
Going for a hike along the Albany Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and McWain Pond is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Papoose Pond Camping Resort is a pleasant local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Man, is there heaps of exciting things to do close to McWain Pond. A great place to camp here at McWain Pond is Vacationland Campground, and Pleasant
 
               Mountain Inn is a tremendous spot to get some rest.
Hiking along the Albany Brook Trail is great fun, and Mount Abram is a very popular ski area close at hand. An average amount of rain falls at McWain Pond; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures at McWain Pond all through the long summer days are in the 70's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's while McWain Pond nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's.
