     Jackman Trading Post is a great campground nearby; Enchanted Stream is a brilliant whitewater spot close by. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at McKenney Ponds; during the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is generally the driest month. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do near McKenney Ponds. The peak of Shutdown Mountain can be seen from McKenney Ponds, and close by you come across the Sally Mountain  
   Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. If you came for an overnight stay Loon Echo Campground is a brilliant spot to camp; brilliant skiing awaits you at Sugarloaf USA.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Grace Pond is close to McKenney Ponds, and going for a hike on the Alder Brook Trail is always a fine adventure. Summertime highs at McKenney Ponds ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. For the period
 
               of the winter highs are mostly in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the-10's for McKenney Ponds. This lake is so wonderful.
In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Spencer Stream, and if you've had enough of McKenney Ponds, Enchanted Pond is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Herbert Grand Hotel is a magnificent location to spend a night or two; there are fine places to discover along the Bald Mountain Trail.
