     A quick spree to Jones Creek close to Massacre Pond is a fine idea, and if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Scarborough Beach. If you fancy a little side trip, try Black Rock, and Checkly Point is close by and always nice to go to. This lake is so wonderful. For you golfers we recommend close by Pleasant Hill Golf Course, and a magnificent beach close by is Western Beach. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Royal River; a lake close by is Mill Brook.
 
   A good deal of rain falls at Massacre Pond; throughout November this area sees the most rain while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Camping is available at Bayley's Camping Resort, and there are some nice whitewater spots on Chandler Brook. All the outdoors amusing things in close proximity to Massacre Pond will keep you coming back again and again.
A good nearby hotel is Lighthouse Inn at Pine Point, and Massacre Pond is not the
 
               only place close by, Rye Pond is a close by lake. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! Massacre Pond is unbeatable! Massacre Pond is not far at all from Portland-South Portland, and Lost Valley has perfect slopes and a friendly staff. The warmest time of the year at Massacre Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Massacre Pond dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Wild Acres Family Camping Resort while you're here at Massacre Pond, and after a long day outdoors Admiral Motel is a brilliant place to spend a night or two.

We went to Scarborugh Beach on September 19, 2007 and were very disappointed. At the gate house a young fellow collected $4 from us. The restrooms were fenced in and locked. We did what we had to do on the beach. When the place is closed for the season why still collect an entrace fee? Gunta Eglitis from Westwood, Mass....

A canoe or kayak ride is a must! Very close to the Eastern Trail for a scenic hike of nature and wildlife.  A tranquil setting but yet close to shopping, fine dining and the beach.  Not many activities on site, but no noise either.  Also, a strong WiFi signal was nice for a change and cable TV with 70 channels at our level site.  Highly recommend if staying for a week, month or the season.  Plenty to do in the area....

This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air....
