Rye Pond is a tremendous lake right next door to Massacre Pond, and a visit to Western Beach is always a splendid idea. At Massacre Pond through the summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Massacre Pond. For you golfers we recommend       nearby Pleasant Hill Golf Course, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from close by Portland-South Portland. Massacre Pond commonly gets a great deal of precipitation; throughout November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is August. You can run the rapids of Royal River close to Massacre Pond, and camping at Bayley's Camping Resort is always a fine experience. This lake is so wonderful. A great spot for whitewater paddling                  next to Massacre Pond is Chandler Brook, and close by Black Rock is a brilliant place to go. Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! Massacre Pond is unbeatable! Jones Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit, and a fine location to camp here at Massacre Pond is Wild Acres Family Camping Resort. Checkly Point is nearby and always great to take a look at, and if you need a spot to stay Lighthouse Inn at Pine Point is a nice choice. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent close by hotel is The Higgins Beach Inn, and Scarborough Beach is a wonderful beach to go to.
